It’s cold outside and there is an extreme need for a cozy, comfortable, and super warm headband for our ears and head.

And…I am always on the look out for a good crochet stitch that will bring both volume but lots of texture. This is a perfect mix of both.

The Cross-stitch takes on a very similar looking pattern as cross stitching and adds a ton of dimension to your work. It adds the warmth and thickness that is needed to make the perfect headband.

How to make a Cross-Stitch

The Cross-Stitch is the perfect stitch to use with this winter headband to add a ton of texture and volume.

To make this stitch, all the steps (with the exception of one) will be like a single crochet.

  • Insert your hook into the next stitch.
  • Yarn UNDER
  • Pull up a loop
  • Two loops will be on the hook
  • Yarn OVER and pull through both loops

Now on to the pattern!

Supplies

  • Super Bulky 6 (LINK to what I am using) – need 1 skeins
  • Crochet Hook: 7.00mm hook (LINK to a crochet hook set)
  • Scissors
  • Yarn Needle (LINK)

Abbreviations

  • sl st: slip stitch
  • CS – cross stitch
  • st(s): stitch(es)
  • fo: finish off

Where did you find the hat tags?

hat tags

I am in love with these tags!!!

I have two go-to Etsy stores where I get my hat tags that have been fantastic to work with. All this Wood and Idaho Taylor Made

I get the Rivets from Amazon. What I like best about this particular one is that you can screw it on vs. trying to use the punch tool. Get the link HERE.
